Here, finally, are my take on Easter themed nails:

Created using a variety of polishes (mainly Models Own, Nails Inc and Rimmel) a striping brush, dotting tool, gems and lots of patience!

My base colours are Models Own Lemon Meringue and Nails Inc Oxford circus.

The super cute ring is from Me and Zena – I love their jewellery.

Contrasting nail colours are a great way to make a bold statement in a subtle way, especially if you work in a more conservative environment (luckily I work in a fairly liberal office!).

Apply a bold base (I used Models Own Fluro’ Orange) followed by a sweeping coat of a contrasting colour (I used Rimmel Grey Matter). Be sure to leave your base colour showing at the bottom of your nails!

Don’t forget base coat and top coat!

My friend Sach asked for me to add some leopard print to her grey / neutral manicure.

Creating a leopard print design is really easy once you’ve got the hang of it. I find its quickest with a nail art pen, but you could just as simply recreate the look using a cocktail stick dipped in polish and drawing with it it a bit like a quill!

That’s a Stephen Webster ring Sach is wearing, it matches well with this style!

Whilst experimenting with nail art brushes I created the below effect.

I used a shorter slightly tougher striping brush to blob metallic pink polish and drag / spread it over a black base.

Finished up with super glossy Seche Vite top coat and I was suitably pleased with the completed look!

Polishes – Maybelline Onyx Black and Models Own Lili’s Pink.

Graphic prints are big news this season, so what better excuse to experiment with some OTT nails!

I used China Glaze white polish as a base and carefully applied layers of bright Models Own polishes in straight and diagonal sections.

Finished off with a striping brush dipped in black polish to add definition, and hide a multitude of sins!

I’m loving sponged nail art, its so easy to create a striking effect.

Using a foundation sponge I lightly applied Models Own Gold Rush polish over Maybelline Onyx Black base.

Dabbing very gently towards the centre to create a graduated effect.

Once dry I used a black nail art pen over the gold to draw the leopards spots.

Teamed up with my tasseled top and sequin jeans they finished off my party look nicely.

Was staring at this Vogue cover from a couple of months ago and decided I had to have it on my nails!

Its a really simple way of channeling the latest colour trends.

Can’t afford the clothes but I can paint them on my fingertips!

Revlon base coat, Bourgeois ‘Lime Catwalk’ polish, Models Own ‘Betty Blue’ followed by Nails Inc top coat once fully dry.

Something which I think is simple but striking for New Years Eve.

Deep burgundy base colour with square gold studs applied with a damp cockail stick and false nail glue. Clear top coat to seal.

TIP:

To secure the stud in place put a dot of false nail glue on to your painted nail first then immediately drop the stud into the glue and lightly press it down.

After much experimentation I decided to go for a traditional festive look for Christmas day.

Red nails: Mavala Elle red polish base, China Glaze white and OPI holo silver glitter tips

Green nails: Barry M spring green polish base with green glitter

The Mavala polish provided excellent coverage in one coat, very impressed.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

Amelia Gregory of Amelia’s Magazine emailed me requesting some bespoke festive nail art – how could I say no?!

I ended up painting almost every Christmas related design I could think of on a wheel. So many festive ideas!

I used a variety of tools and polishes to create my wheel – photo below.

Sponges, nail art pens, a wooden skewer (!), dotting tool, a striping brush, glitter etc

Sponging is great to create snow look. Below are my snowstorm nails (with sleigh!) and a tutorial video showing how to recreate them.
